What Is E-SIM, And How Does It Work? Which Handset Has The Facility To Fit It?

Technology is advancing rapidly in the country and the world. New technology is in this era of smartphones, the SIM, which smartphone users are using in their phones right now, may not be able to use this SIM in the coming days because it believes that the coming period will be of e-SIM. What is it, and how does it work?

What is E-Sim?

E-SIM is a virtual SIM installed in the mobile, which means Embedded Subscriber Identity Module. There is no need to put an e-sim on the phone. Through e-sim, you can get the benefit of all services of the physical sim. It is a kind of chip that works just like a SIM card. E-SIMs are already installed on the phone or in any device, meaning you cannot remove the e-SIM. Also, you cannot install it on all devices.

How Does Work?

Telecom companies activate e-SIM on your phone. The special thing is that you will not have to change the SIM card after changing the operator. Apart from this, there is also no need for a SIM card slot on the smartphone. On the other hand, if a subscriber wants to change his telecom service provider, he will not have to buy another SIM; instead, an e-sim will get inserted in his mobile phone, and the e-sim will be updated.

Which Companies Offer E-Sim?

Reliance Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone-Idea e-SIM services are three major telecom companies in India. Vodafone has recently started this service. Vodafone Idea has started it for postpaid customers in Delhi, Gujarat, and Mumbai circles.

Which Handset Works?

E-SIM currently works only on premium smartphones. Vodafone's e-SIM will support iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone SE (2020), iPhone XS, iPhone X Max, and iPhone XR. Later this service will be available for Samsung Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Fold.
